Antioxidants exist as vitamins, minerals and naturally in foods. Together as antioxidants, these substances are thought to be effective in helping to prevent cancer, heart disease, and stroke. Dietary antioxidants are considered beneficial because they slow the chemical process of oxidation, which causes cholesterol deposits and narrowing of the arteries and can lead to various heart-related problems.

Hi,
Let me just clarify a bit. First, thank you for reiterating the heart disease is related to OXIDIZED cholesterol and not just the healthy fresh cholesterol that circulates in throughout our bodies. Antioxidants protect against oxidation and free radical damage and are thought by experts to prevent some of the disease related to oxidative damage. Antioxidants are ALSO PRODUCED INTERNALLY by our own bodies. That is where it becomes a bit tricky. If we were to overdose on exogenous or "external" antioxidants, then experts believe that will hinder the production of our own internal antioxidant systems. So, AS ALWAYS, moderation is recommended and remember that WHOLE, FRESH, plant based foods are our best sources of exogenous antioxidants and we are not likely to overdose on them. There is a possibility that one can consume excessive exogenous antioxidant in supplement form so, again, AS ALWAYS,consult a qualified nutrition professional for advice.Posted 1 month ago # -
Hello Friends.......
Antioxidants are a group of compounds that help to protect the body from the formation and elimination of free-radicals. Free-radicals are formed from exposure to sunlight and pollution and also as a byproduct of cell metabolism. Alcohol, cigarette smoke, stress and even diet also affect the level of free-radical development in the body.
Thanks

There are fruits and vegetables who are antioxidants. Well, of course, there are food supplements that can do that. For those who have less budget, one can opt for the natural ways.
