To stop smoking guy; I tied to quit about 2 years ago taking chantix. I hate pills but figured I'd give this a go. I had one side effect just short of the 12th week. An insatiable itch so I did not take the very last pill. I didn't smoke for I guess 3 months but did cave in. Towards the end of March this year (2010) I figured I'd give it another try. I said after 50 years enough was enough, I started when I was 14 and am 64 now. My last smoke was April 8. I've not touched one since. That doesn't mean I don't want one it just means I haven' touched one. The Chantix does work. Now my problem is the 15 lbs that I've gained. If anyone has any great ideas I'd love to hear them. Rigorous exercise is completely out of the question. My back is blown out and after 2 operations I'm living with bone on bone. The extra weight is really taking its toll. Again if anyone has any great weight loss ideas I sure could use the help.

I quit smoking 10 years ago and the things that really helped me were Wint-o-green Lifesavers and anything that smelled like cinnamon. I don't know what it was about that combination, but it worked pretty well.

I used Laser Therapy. In the past I've tried cold turkey and the patch - neither worked for long. I'm not a fan of pill-taking so those options are out for me. I'm 7 months smoke free now.

My husband started gaining weight after he quits smoking. He is 5'8 32 years old. He was pretty worried himself because the first few months his weight gain is pretty dramatic. Thanks to a good friend who suggested fat burning furnace program. My husband worked on the program and lost 10 lbs on the first two weeks. I'm not sure if the program is effective or it is just compatible with my husbands genetic make up. Hope this helps.
