I am 5' 1" , 75 years and weigh right now l28 lbs. I have always maintained my weight between 110 and 115 lbs all of my adult life. Two years ago I jumped up to 130 in a matter of a week. I was caring for grandchildren and eating what "they" wanted such as small hamburgers, french fries , ice cream etc. It really frightened me that I could gain that much so fast. I went on the Atkins diet ver batum and added another couple pounds. I panicked and tried starving ! Needless to say that did not work either because of the cravings. I am presently eating only a cereal bow of cooked vegetables, some sugar free yogart and a glass of milk before I go to bed. If I really get the munchies I fix a small amount of nachos with cheese made with 2% milk and very few chips, probably 10 whole grain tortilla chips. It takes about a week for me to lose 1/2 lb. I am active. Ride my bicycle 6.00 miles every day (and will walk as soon as weather permits). My concern is with my metabolism. How do you check your metabolism?
